Riga — Scaling a flight training department is one of the most critical challenges an operator faces. As an airline expands, maintaining absolute grading consistency among a growing pool of instructors is paramount.
Following a highly successful initial implementation, we are delighted to announce that airBaltic has re-engaged Empower.aero to deliver an additional EBT Train-the-Trainer course. By bringing us back to upskill their newest wave of trainers, the Latvian flag carrier ensures that their expanding training department operates with the exact same precision and philosophy as their veteran instructors.
Scaling Without Compromising Standardisation
A common pitfall during rapid airline expansion is the dilution of training standards. When new instructors are onboarded without rigorous alignment to the airline's core competency framework, grading drift inevitably occurs. AirBaltic has masterfully avoided this by prioritising continuous standardisation.
During this specialised 3-day program, airBaltic’s new trainers benefited from the same advanced EBT methodology that underpins the rest of the airline’s program. Leveraging the CBTA Unity™ architecture, we ensured these instructors mastered:
- Root-Cause Identification: Equipping trainers to look past the surface-level outcome to accurately assess the underlying competencies.
- TEM-Based Facilitation: Utilising psychological tools to guide trainees toward effective self-discovery during debriefs.
- Absolute Concordance: Aligning their individual grading metrics perfectly with the airline's established Instructor Concordance Assurance Programme (ICAP).
It is incredibly rewarding to partner with an operator that treats evidence-based training not as a one-time project, but as a continuous, evolving culture of safety and excellence.
"True standardisation isn't achieved in a single training event; it's maintained by ensuring every new instructor speaks the exact same competency language from day one. AirBaltic continues to set the standard for how to scale an EBT program responsibly."
We are proud to continue supporting airBaltic on their journey and look forward to further empowering their world-class training team.
